Easter
La résurrection de Jésus le troisième jour après la crucifixion — la plus grande fête chrétienne.
Pourquoi on la célèbre
Easter Sunday celebrates the belief that Jesus rose from the dead, conquering sin and death. Its date moves each year: the first Sunday after the church’s full moon on or after 21 March. Holy Saturday’s night vigil leads into it.
L’histoire qui s’y rattache
After Jesus was crucified on Friday, his body was laid in a tomb cut in rock and sealed with a great stone. Early on Sunday morning Mary Magdalene and other women came to the tomb and found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty; an angel told them, “He is not here; he has risen.” Jesus then appeared to Mary Magdalene and to his disciples. The empty tomb is the heart of the Christian faith.
Comment la célébrer
