Guru Angad Dev Ji
El segundo Gurú sij, que dio forma a la escritura gurmukhi y difundió el langar.
Por qué se celebra
Guru Angad Dev Ji (1504–1552), born Bhai Lehna, was chosen by Guru Nanak as his successor. His Parkash, Gurgaddi and Joti Jot days are kept as Gurpurabs.
La historia que hay detrás
Bhai Lehna was a devotee of the Goddess who, on hearing Guru Nanak’s hymns, came to serve him. He did every task without question — once carrying a heavy bundle of wet grass that stained his clothes with mud, which the Guru said looked like saffron. Guru Nanak called him “Angad”, a part of his own body, and made him the second Guru. At Khadur Sahib he gave shape to the Gurmukhi script, while his wife Mata Khivi ran the langar, famous for its kheer; he also set up wrestling grounds for the young.
