Día of Arafah
El día más grande del Hajj; los musulmanes que no están de peregrinación ayunan.
Por qué se celebra
On 9 Dhul Hijjah the Hajj pilgrims stand in prayer on the plain of Arafat from noon to sunset. Muslims elsewhere fast this day.
La historia que hay detrás
On the plain of Arafat Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his Farewell Sermon during his last pilgrimage, reminding people that all are equal — no Arab is superior to a non-Arab, nor a white person to a black — and urging them to be just to women and honest in trade. He said, “Hajj is Arafah.” Fasting on this day is believed to wipe away the sins of the past and the coming year.
