ಮಳೆಗಾಲದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳು, ಸಾಧು-ಸಾಧ್ವಿಯರು ಒಂದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಆಷಾಢದಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ ಚೌದಸ್‌ವರೆಗೆ.

From Ashadha Shukla Chaturdashi to Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi, Jain monks and nuns stop travelling and stay with one community, and lay Jains take extra vows.
ಇದರ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಥೆ
In the rains countless tiny creatures are born in the soil and water. To avoid harming them while walking, Mahavir and the monks after him stayed in one place for the four months. For the community the stay of the monks is a blessing: daily sermons, festivals like Paryushan, and many vows of restraint fill these months.
ಹೇಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು
- Invite or visit the monks staying in your town
- Take a vow for the four months — no eating after sunset, no root vegetables, daily samayik
- Attend the daily pravachan
- Avoid unnecessary travel and harm to small creatures
