Magha Puja (Sangha Day), on the full moon of Magha, recalls a spontaneous assembly of 1,250 arahants — all ordained by the Buddha himself — at the Veluvana monastery in Rajgir.

📖 దీని వెనుక కథ

On that full moon, without being called, the 1,250 monks arrived together. The Buddha gave them the Ovada Patimokkha, the heart of his teaching in three lines: “Do no evil, do good, purify the mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.” He also announced that he would pass away in three months.
