ಧಮ್ಮಚಕ್ರ ಪ್ರವರ್ತನ ದಿನ
1956 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಭೀಮರಾವ್ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ನಾಗಪುರದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದ ದಿನ.
ಏಕೆ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ
On Ashoka Vijayadashami, 14 October 1956, Dr Ambedkar took the Buddhist refuges in Nagpur and gave the 22 vows to about half a million people. Lakhs gather at Deekshabhoomi every year on Vijayadashami.
ಇದರ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಥೆ
Ambedkar chose Vijayadashami because tradition holds that Emperor Ashoka embraced the Dhamma on that day after the bloodshed of the Kalinga war. Rejecting caste discrimination, he called the Buddha’s path one of liberty, equality and fraternity. He passed away less than two months later.

- Visit Deekshabhoomi or a local vihara
- Read the 22 vows and Ambedkar’s “The Buddha and His Dhamma”
- Take the Three Refuges and Five Precepts
- Support education for those left behind
