A traditional story. The Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic traditionally attributed to the sage Valmiki. This is a TotsName retelling in simple words.

The story

King Dasharatha decided to crown Rama as the next king, and Ayodhya prepared to celebrate.

But long before, Dasharatha had promised Queen Kaikeyi two wishes. Now she asked for them: that her son Bharata be king, and that Rama live in the forest for fourteen years.

The king was heartbroken, but a promise was a promise. Rama accepted calmly, so that his father would not break his word. Sita and Lakshmana chose to go with him, and the people wept as they left.

Moral of the Story
