For grown-ups
- Ask the big question first and let your child guess — every guess is welcome. Do the activity together, but do not give the answer: ask “What do you see? Why do you think it happened?” Then read the “why” together.
1This week’s big question
Big question: Why do we have two eyes?
हमें दो आँखें क्यों मिली हैं?
Small questions to wonder about:
Why do we blink?
How do our two ears tell us where a sound is coming from?
My guess: Will it be easier to catch a ball with one eye closed, or with both eyes open?
Draw or write what you think will happen

2Let’s find out: The catching test
You need:
- a soft ball or a rolled-up pair of socks
- a grown-up to throw it gently
- ☐ Close one eye. A grown-up throws the ball gently five times. Count your catches.
- ☐ Now open both eyes and try five more throws.
- ☐ Colour one box for every catch.
Fill in what you saw:
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|
| One eye open | | | | | |
| Both eyes open | | | | | |

3Why did it happen?
- Each eye sees the ball from a slightly different place.
- Your brain puts the two pictures together and works out how far away the ball is.
- That is why catching is easier with both eyes open.
Now tell it to a grown-up in your own words. Was your guess right?
